A severe thunderstorm warning — downgraded from an earlier tornado warning — is in effect for parts of cottage country, Environment Canada says.
A warning is in effect for: Apsley, Woodview, Northern Peterborough County, Fenelon Falls, Balsam Lake Park, Northern Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, Minden and Southern Haliburton County.
Pickering, Oshawa and southern Durham Region are also under a severe thunderstorm warning.
The tornado warning was first issued when a waterspout was reported over Lake Couchiching around 10 a.m. Monday.
Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
