Mayor releases ‘Summer of Ford’ short film

Mayor Rob Ford has released a YouTube video which captures the high points of his summer in the media spotlight.

Summer of Ford opens with a clip of Ford holding Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion steady as she reels in a fish and then segues to him arm-wrestling with Hulk Hogan at Fan Expo Canada and glad-handing and posing for pictures. At one point, he plays the bongo drums.

The ad was conceived by marketing agency Ossington Creative — where Ford staffer Brendan Croskerry worked until earlier this year. The mayor’s office said no city resources were used to produce the video.

“This short film is my way of thanking Toronto residents for a phenomenal summer,” Ford said in a statement.

“I hope that everyone who watches it will get a fraction of the enjoyment I had meeting thousands of residents this past summer.”

The next municipal election is on Oct. 27, 2014.
