Man arrested after fatal Hamilton stabbing

An 18-year-old man is dead after a stabbing in downtown Hamilton.

Police say it happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, when the victim and another man got into a fight in the parking lot of a Tim Hortons on King Street West, near Queen Street, in Hess Village.

The victim, now identified as David Pereira, died in hospital.

Officers arrested Raleigh Stubbs, 49, at the scene and have charged him with first-degree murder.

They haven’t yet determined whether the stabbing had anything to do with a fight earlier in the evening at Stubbs’ home near Bay and Market streets, a couple of blocks away.

It’s the second murder in Hamilton in three days.

A 21-year-old Mississauga man named Wor Yahana Wur was shot and killed early Friday.

Police have charged 23-year-old Camiche Lual with second-degree murder in the case and are looking for second suspect.
