1 dead after 6-vehicle Brampton crash, SIU investigates

A 50-year-old man is dead after a six-vehicle crash in Brampton on Monday morning, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) confirmed on Twitter.

The SIU, which is investigating the incident, said a Peel police cruiser began to follow a vehicle being driven by a 55-year-old man.

The driver sped past the officer, who was trying to pull him over and then struck multiple vehicles at Clarke Boulevard and Bramalea Road, before ditching the car and fleeing on foot.

The suspect was arrested a short time later in the area.

The victim, who was the driver of one of the vehicles struck in the crash, suffered critical injuries and was transported to hospital where he later died.

No other injuries have been reported.
