Cyclist struck and killed by vehicle in Etobicoke

A 51-year-old female cyclist died Wednesday after she fell off her bike and was hit by a van in Etobicoke, Traffic Services confirms.
Police said in a release she was riding westbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West near Royal York Road, when she lost control and fell into the passing lane.
That’s when she was struck by a 1997 Mercury van driven by a 62-year-old man.
The victim was the city’s 41st traffic fatality this year.
An investigation is ongoing.
