Summer’s end brings heavy rain to the GTA

The GTA got a good soaking overnight and will get more rain before it tapers off on Saturday.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for southern Ontario calling it “a wet end to the summer of 2013.”

The agency said a slow-moving cold front is bringing bands of rain, which will be heavy at times.

The Toronto area got as much as 40 millimetres of rain starting late Friday into early Saturday.

Some of that will factor into the 20-35 millimetres forecast for Saturday.

CityNews Meteorologist Adam Stiles said the rain would taper off into the afternoon and the temperatures will cool.

Fall arrives at 4:44 p.m. on Sunday.
