Toronto ‘Bollywood Star’ auditions will be held Saturday

Auditions will be held in Toronto this Saturday as the all-Canadian judging panel of filmmaker Richie Mehta and actors Anita Majumdar and Rupinder Nagra search for the next Bollywood Star.

Triple-threat hopefuls – all contestants should be able to sing, dance and act – are competing for a role in a Bollywood film.

Contestants should arrive at the Toronto Congress Centre for 7 a.m. pre-registration. Auditions will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To be eligible, participants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who’s 18 or older.

Casting for the four-part documentary series began in Vancouver on Sept. 21.

After the Canadian contestants have been whittled down, the top six finalists will travel to Mumbai for a “Bollywood boot camp.” And after that, it will all come down to a final audition before a famed – and as yet unnamed – Bollywood director who will crown Canada’s first Bollywood star.

Bollywood Star will air on OMNI Television in spring 2014.

Rogers Media is the parent company of OMNI Television, CityNews and CityNews.ca.
