The Special Investigations Unit says it is calling off its investigation into an arrest by Toronto police following a downtown shooting last week.
Officers rushed to Sherbourne Street and Bloor Street East, where a man in his 20s was found shot in the leg on Sept. 24. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers saw two suspects flee in a vehicle, according to the agency.
The SIU says the officers apprehended the driver but the passenger drove away, eventually colliding with a utility pole at Yonge Street and Marlborough Avenue.
When the officers found the second suspect, there was a “physical interaction” that was captured on video, the SIU says.
The agency says medical reports obtained reveal that the 28-year-old man did not sustain any serious injuries and it is calling off the investigation as a result.
