Voice behind iPhone’s Siri revealed

The identity of one of the most famous women in the world has been revealed.

Susan Bennett, a.k.a. Siri on the iPhone, was not hired by Apple, but as a voice actor by an outside company. Bennett was hired to begin recording blurbs back in 2005.

She says the fact that she now speaks to millions came as a total surprise.

“When I recorded those voices, I had absolutely no idea where they would end up,” she said. “When I first discovered that that was my voice, to be honest – it was a little creepy.”

Bennett lives in suburban Atlanta and is also the voice for a number of GPS units and Delta Airlines.

Apple has not confirmed Bennett is indeed Siri, but CNN reports the voice has been authenticated by an audio forensics expert.

Since Bennett was initially paid for her services eight years ago, the only money she is earning for her Siri character is through advertising deals, where she puts on the voice of her famous character.
