Jim Carrey entertains fans at Toronto book signing

Actor and comedian Jim Carrey was in town on Sunday to read his new book to a group of children and fans at the Indigo store in Yorkdale Mall.

How Roland Rolls, a story about a wave who fears his life will end once he hits the beach, is the Golden Globe winner’s first book.

Carrey said his decision to write a children’s book was based on the joy he gets from the time he spends with his daughter and grandson.

“I’ve always loved appealing to kids,” he explained to CityNews. “I’ve kind of lucked into this amazing place in the world where entire families can get with my stuff and have laughs together.”

The book is dedicated to his grandson and the EP, which was created as a companion piece to the book, contains music he wrote with his daughter Jane.

“We had a blast doing it and she was really amazing,” he said.

After the reading Carrey signed copies of his book and took photos with those in attendance.

How Roland Rolls hit store shelves Sept. 24.

Carrey promoted the book’s release on Twitter along with the announcement that he and actor Jeff Daniels would be reprieving their rolls as Lloyd and Harry in a sequel to their 1994 hit Dumb & Dumber.
