Man, 23, wanted in connection with weekend stabbing death

Toronto police are searching for a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with the death of Rameez Khalid.

Khalid,19, was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning after an altercation in the Richmond Street West and York Street area.

Police say the victim attended a pop-up rave on University Avenue at Queen Street , part of Nuit Blanche, when he was involved in an altercation with another group of people.

Det. Scott Whittemore said the fight was broken up by members of the public. The victim and a friend left the area and went eastbound on Richmond  where they crossed paths once again with the group from the fight.

Whittemore said a violent altercation then took place, during which Khalid suffered life-threatening injuries.

“There were lots of people involved in the fight and we know from video in the area that there were numerous people walking around,” Whittemore at a news conference Tuesday. “We strongly feel that there’s people that may have taken photos or video of this fight.”

Emanuel Lozando of Toronto is wanted for second-degree murder.

Officials are also looking to speak with two other men only known by the nicknames “Yoda” and “Munchies.”
