Tainted food found in west-end dog park

Toronto police have issued a warning for pet owners after tainted food was found in a popular dog park in the city’s west end.

A dog owner found two hamburger patties — one coated with white powder and another laced with metal shards — in Stanley Park, near Wellington and Bathurst streets, on Thursday.

“Both patties were thrown away and so [we] as police we don’t have anything to send in for investigation,” said Const. Victor Kwong.

No illnesses have been reported.

Last month, someone found hot dogs mixed with a suspicious substance at Oakvale Green Park, near Greenwood Avenue. One sample of the substance contained acetaminophen, while other samples contained no medicinal ingredients.
