Loblaw cuts 275 jobs across Canada

Loblaw is cutting 275 administrative and management jobs across Canada, a spokesperson has confirmed to 680News.

About 200 of the positions are from the company’s head office in Brampton.

Employees will be notified over the next few days.

Loblaw’s acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart Corp. for $12.4 billion still requires approval from the Competition Bureau.

The deal, announced in July, will keep the Shoppers brand name in place and allow it to operate as separate division of Loblaw Companies Ltd.

It may also see some of the stores Shoppers owns folded into Loblaw’s real estate investment trust, Choice Properties REIT.
