Toronto Star reporter’s book on Rob Ford expected in March

A book on Rob Ford and the flurry of controversy surrounding the outspoken mayor is due out in a few months, written by Toronto Star reporter Robyn Doolittle.
Penguin Canada said Wednesday that Crazy Town: The Rob Ford Story will be published in March – about eight months before the Oct. 27, 2014 municipal election. It contains “shocking new revelations about Toronto mayor Rob Ford,” Penguin said.
Doolittle, a city hall reporter, is one of two Star reporters who saw a video that purportedly shows the mayor smoking crack cocaine.
Ford has staunchly denied all allegations, saying he cannot comment on a video he “has not seen or does not exist.”
When reached for comment, Doolittle said she would not be discussing the upcoming book.
A pre-order listing found on Amazon.ca — showing a title called Ford Family by Doolittle Robyn — says the book will be released March 1, 2014.
News of the book was first revealed by Ryerson University, which mentioned the political biography alongside a speaking engagement by Doolittle at a school event.
Ford, who is facing numerous controversies, said he plans to run for reelection next year.
In addition to what has been dubbed “Crackgate,” there are allegations of being intoxicated at public events; he was fired from a volunteer football coaching job at Don Bosco high school; numerous staff were either fired or quit from his office; and, most recently, his good friend Alexander Lisi was arrested in a drug raid.
