Police have charged a 43-year-old man who crashed his car into a house in Newmarket early Friday morning.
Officers say Alain Labelle of Whitchurch-Stouffville was driving on Prospect Street, north of Mulock Drive, when he lost control of his car around 3:30 a.m.
He plowed through a pile of firewood and slammed into the house. The flying logs dented cars parked nearby.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life.
Paramedics then took Labelle to a local hospital with minor injuries.
A couple sleeping inside the house at the time wasn’t hurt.
Labelle has been charged with impaired driving and having a blood-alcohol level above 80 milligrams.
