Argos ‘disappointed’ at Ford’s coarse language while wearing the team’s jersey

The Toronto Argonauts say they are “disappointed ” at the latest developments in the Rob Ford saga after the city’s mayor used coarse language on live television while wearing the CFL team’s jersey.
Ford — wearing a blue No. 12 Argonauts uniform with “Mayor Ford” in block white letters on the back — stunned the throng of reporters by using graphic terms to say he had never told a former staffer he wanted to have oral sex with her.
The besieged mayor also threatened legal action against other former staffers for suggesting at least one of his female companions was a prostitute.
Television cameras broadcast the scrum live from city hall, located a short distance from where the Argonauts were scheduled to practise later in the day ahead of their upcoming East Division final against Hamilton.
The Argonauts released a statement shortly after Ford made his remarks, calling the situation “unseemly at best.”
The statement says Ford’s latest remarks while wearing the team’s jersey “are particularly disappointing given our organization’s work in the community to help youth deal with issues of bullying prevention.”
“We hope for the benefit of the wonderful citizens of Toronto and this great city that this situation is resolved expeditiously.”
The Argos will host the Tiger-Cats on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre. The winner will advance to the Grey Cup on Nov. 24 at Regina.
