Lisi’s court date to appeal threat conviction postponed until January

Alexander Lisi’s court date to appeal his conviction for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend has been scheduled for January 21, 2014. It was supposed to happen on Tuesday but has been postponed.

He was initially charged with six offences, including assault, harassment and forcible confinement of his ex-girlfriend, but in the end was only convicted with threatening to kill her.

In October, Lisi was sentenced to time served and two years’ probation. A character reference letter from Mayor Rob Ford was read during his sentencing.

In a separate case, Lisi is facing charges for trafficking marijuana and other drug offences, and extortion.

The federal Crown is prosecuting Lisi on his drug charges.

The province is prosecuting Lisi on an extortion charge, which relates to his alleged efforts to get his hands on the video of the mayor apparently smoking crack.
