A woman is missing after a fire levelled her Hamilton home on Monday afternoon.
Hamilton police told CityNews the woman was still missing as of 4:25 a.m. on Tuesday.
The fire began on Wilson Street East, near Golf Links Park, around 12:30 p.m.
Witnesses told the Hamilton Spectator they heard a loud bang, like an explosion, and smelled gas before they saw the smoke.
Firefighters said the small home collapsed shortly after they arrived, and they then focused on making sure the fire didn’t spread to neighbouring homes.
The cause of the fire and the cost of the damage is not yet known.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
