The main ferry to the Toronto island was taken out of service late on Tuesday night, leaving those who live on the island scrambling to get into the city.
A leak was discovered in the hull, forcing the ferry out of service unexpectedly.
A second ferry was already dry docked for repairs.
Residents now have to take a bus to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, wait for planes to clear so that the bus can cross the runway, and then hop on board the island airport ferry.
The dry-docked ferry is expected to be back in service later Thursday or Friday.
