2 brothers killed in Thorold snowmobile crash identified

Two men killed in a double snowmobile accident in Thorold on Thursday have been identified as brothers Casey Ugulini, 28, and Chris Ugulini, 25.

Chris’ girlfriend, 22, was a passenger on his vehicle. She was flown to hospital in Hamilton with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Police say the victims were aboard two snowmobiles that both crashed into a fallen tree on a trail near the Welland Canal.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

A police accident reconstruction unit and the coroner’s office are investigating.

A family member said Casey recently became a father.

“To lose one is bad enough, but to lose two, we can’t comprehend we are still in shock,” said the victims’ uncle Cliff Hardy.

“He (Casey) had a little girl eight months ago.”
