Caledon woman injured by falling tree

A Caledon woman is at a Toronto hospital with a serious head injury after she was found near a fallen tree on Dec. 22.

Ontario Provincial Police say a man left his home on Finnerty Side Road to check on a neighbour. When he returned, he saw a fallen tree on the road.

The woman was unconscious beside the tree. The man called emergency crews, who took the woman to Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville.  She was later taken to Toronto, where she remains in serious condition.

Police are warning residents that as the weather warms up, strong wind gusts and melting ice could result in more power outages and create dangerous conditions for motorists and pedestrians.
