Residents return home after Clearview Heights fire

A fire forced dozens of people from an apartment building in the north end of the city on New Year’s Day.

The fire began on Clearview Heights, near Black Creek Drive and Eglinton Avenue West, around 5 a.m.

Firefighters evacuated the three-storey building and some residents took shelter on TTC buses.

The fire was knocked down by 7:30 a.m. and residents were allowed back inside.

The fire began in a bedroom on the second floor, Toronto Fire Capt. Mike Strapko told CityNews.

It’s not yet known what caused the fire or the cost of the damages.

No injuries were reported.
