Lisi due in court to face extortion, drugs charges

The case of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s friend and former part-time driver, Alexander Lisi, returns to court on Tuesday.

The two criminal cases against him are scheduled for judicial pre-trials, which are case conferences between the lawyers and judge that take place behind closed doors.

Lisi is not required to appear.

Lisi is out on bail after being arrested and charged in October with four drug offences, including trafficking marijuana.

He’s also been charged with extortion in relation to the crack video.

The drug charges are in connection with Project Brazen 2 — a Toronto police investigation into reports of a video allegedly showing the mayor smoking crack cocaine.

On Oct. 31, police announced Lisi was charged with extortion. He is accused of threatening two men while trying to obtain the video.
