Toronto company floats idea of cable car over DVP: report

Imagine not using the Don Valley Parkway, but instead riding a cable car over the highway to get to your destination.

The Toronto Star reports a local company — Bullwheel International Cable Car Corp. — is exploring the idea of a people-moving cable car mass transit system that would connect Evergreen Brick Works with Broadview Station.

The paper reports company CEO Steven Dale has spoken with one of the local councillors and the owner of Brick Works about the idea.

Dale said the idea is “purely exploratory,” but it would work as both a tourist attraction and transportation system.

Some of the largest cities in the world already utilize a cable car system for commuters.

In London, the Emirates Air Line gondola moves people over the Thames River. In the U.S, New York City has the Roosevelt Island Tramway, while the Aerial Tram is in use in Portland, Ore.
