Mirvish’s ‘Metamorphosis’ debuts in Toronto

Franz Kafka’s terrifying and bizarre story Metamorphosis hits the stage with a new theatrical version.

Björn Thors stars as the main character, Gregor, a salesman who turns into a bug. Most of his time on stage is spent climbing walls and manoeuvring like an insect.

“I hardly touch the floor during the show — I do a lot of hanging,” Thors told 680News.

The show’s director, Gisli Gardarsson, said that although the show has dark overtones, it’s relatable.

“We can all relate to having secrets and weird circumstances in our homes that we don’t want to share with the outside world, and this is an extreme example of that,” Gardarsson said.

The show runs until March 9 at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.
