Toronto police appeal for tips in missing woman’s death

Toronto police are once again appealing for any information in the death of a missing woman whose body was discarded in a garbage bag in Toronto’s inner harbour last May.

Kasandra Bolduc, 22, was reported missing by her family to Niagara regional police on Feb. 13, 2013. Toronto police received her missing person’s report a month later and her remains were pulled from Lake Ontario on May 22, 2013.

She was found wrapped in a garbage bag at the foot of Yonge Street, police said last year. Police believe Bolduc was in the water before Christmas 2012.

Det. Greg Forestall said Friday that results from autopsy and toxicology tests couldn’t determine a cause of death. But he said Bolduc’s lifestyle involving the sex trade and drug use may have played a role in her death.

He said he was primarily interested in speaking with anyone who was in contact with Bolduc between November 2012 and May 2012.

“We’re here to appeal to people to come forward,” he said.

“Kasandra’s family deserve the right to know how she died, and how and why she was found near the foot of Yonge street in May of 2013,” Forestall said, adding also that her young daughter should be “afforded the truth.”

Forestall encouraged her acquaintances who may be afraid to come forward anyway even though they “think that some of their involvement in crime may land themselves in trouble if they give information.”

“At this point I’m unconcerned to a degree about those factors.”

Anyone with information is asked to call (416) 222-TIPS or (416) 808-7400.
