Ontario Provincial Police officers have identified a snowboarder found dead at Blue Mountain ski resort on Wednesday as 20-year-old Taylor Ogram.

But police declined to provide further details. Reports say he grew up in Caledon East and was studying engineering at the University of Western Ontario.

A Blue Mountain spokesperson told CityNews earlier Wednesday that “we can confirm that a fatal incident occurred last night involving a snowboarder at Blue Mountain.”

“Since this is an ongoing OPP investigation, Blue Mountain will refrain from comment on any further details and would like to extend our condolences to the family.”

Ogram was found after the group he was with requested a search.

He was found wearing a helmet in a wooded area near the South Base Lodge ski hill. He was without vital signs and was later pronounced dead at hospital.

The victim was discovered after the runs had closed down at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. It’s not yet known if he died before or after staff had left.
