Florida police release video of Justin Bieber in custody

The Florida State Attorney’s office released jail surveillance video Wednesday of the 10 hours pop star Justin Bieber was in custody after his arrest in Miami Beach last month.

In the video, the 20-year-old is seen being patted down by an officer. Other clips show him taking a sobriety test shortly after his arrest and performing push ups in his cell.

Bieber was charged with driving under influence, resisting arrest and using an expired licence after police say they caught him allegedly drag racing on Jan. 23. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He also had marijuana and prescription medication for anxiety in his system at the time of his arrest, according to the state attorney’s office.

Lawyers for the pop star asked a judge to prevent semi-clad images of the teenage singer during his time in the Miami Beach prison from being released to the media.

A Florida court has set a March 3 trial date for Bieber, who is Canadian, on the charges stemming from the January arrest.
