Canada’s economy sheds 7,000 jobs, unemployment rate stable

Canada’s unemployment rate was unchanged at 7.0 per cent in Febuary, Statistics Canada reported Friday.

The agency said the economy lost 7,000 net jobs during the month. Analysts had estimated about 15,000 jobs would be added.

In the U.S., employers added 175,000 jobs in February; however, the unemployment rate rose to 6.7 per cent, the Labor Department said.
