Heinz Canada recalls 6 baby food products due to packaging defect

Heinz Canada has issued a voluntary recall for six types of its baby food because of a packaging defect.
The company says the defect may allow the entry of microorganisms that could spoil the food. The warning was triggered by a consumer complaint.
The recall includes a number of different flavours in 128-millilitre pouches.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning parents not to feed the affected products to their children.
The defected packages may not be necessarily dangerous; however, if spoiled food is accidentally consumed, it could cause upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea.
Health Canada says the health risks associated with the consumption of these products is very low to remote.
