Man, 72, struck & killed in Woodbridge

A 72-year-old man from Vaughan died after he was hit by a pickup truck in Woodbridge, York Regional Police say.

The pedestrian was struck just before 6 a.m. on Friday at Highway 7 at Pine Valley Drive.

He was rushed to hospital, where he later died.

“There are initial reports that maybe the pedestrian was going across a red light, so we’re just trying to verify some of those reports,” Sgt. Clint Whitney told 680News.

“It doesn’t seem like weather played any sort of factor in this collision.”

The driver remained on the scene. No charges have been laid.

Highway 7 is closed westbound at Pine Valley for the investigation. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area as they reconstruct what happened.
