Chow jokes about past drug use, transit on ’22 Minutes’

Toronto mayoral front-runner Olivia Chow shows she can joke about herself when she sat down with Mark Critch on This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

The two trade barbs in the mock debate over such topics as her past drug use, transit and the island airport expansion.

Critch begins the segment, which airs Tuesday night, by telling her he’s going to ask tough questions to find out if she’s qualified to be a mayor, before asking “Are you on crack?”

To which Chow laughs and replies “No”

Critch also pokes fun at Chow’s bike riding, support of above-ground transit and lack of support for jets at the Billy Bishop airport – asking if she is an environmentalist or is just against getting anywhere fast.

She retorts “Speaking about speed, want to see how fast I can get out of this interview?”

Chow, who entered the mayoral race last week, will take part in the first televised debate of the 2014 mayoral election next Wednesday on CityNews.

Rob Ford, David Soknacki, Karen Stintz and John Tory have all confirmed their participation in the debate.

Hosted by anchor Gord Martineau, the debate will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on City, CityNews.ca, the CityNews app and 680News.com.
