Woman has serious injuries after Steeles & Bathurst crash

A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash near Steeles Avenue and Bathurst Street.

Toronto police say the woman, 63, was heading west on Steeles and was about to turn left onto Torresdale Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

At the same, the 17-year-old driver of a Subaru was heading east on Steeles toward Torresdale.

The driver of the Suburu struck the Nissan at the intersection.

Police say there were five people in the Subaru, all teenagers who attended the same school. No one from the Subaru was hurt. The driver was the only person in the Nissan.

Steeles was closed from Black Hawk Way to Carpenter Road and the southbound lanes of Torresdale were closed for the investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were at the light or in the area at the time of the crash to come forward.

CORRECTION: Police had earlier said two pedestrians were injured. No pedestrians were hurt.
