Woman’s body found in home at Isabella & Sherbourne

Toronto police are investigating a suspicious death after a woman was found dead at a home in downtown Toronto late Sunday night.

The residence, which is located at 166 Isabella St., near Sherbourne Street and Bloor Street East, is divided up into apartment units.

Toronto police and EMS responded to a call for unknown trouble at around 10:30 p.m. and found a woman’s body when they arrived on the scene.

Ambulance officials confirm a woman was found dead at the home.

The cause of death is not yet known.

“We’re just trying to determine now what the cause of death was, if it was a suicide or a homicide,” Det. Joyce Schertzer told 680News. “The pathologist came and had a look at the scene and we’re going to continue our investigation.”

The homicide squad is assisting in the investigation until a cause of death is determined.

“The investigation, although it commenced last evening, is really in its infancy so there are a lot of questions we need to answer,” said Schertzer.

Forensic identification vehicles remain at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
