Firefighters battle industrial fire near Pearson

Mississauga firefighters battled a fire at an industrial building near Pearson airport for several hours Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a scrapyard on Romani Court at Britannia Road East and Dixie Road around 4:30 p.m.

Heavy smoke forced Pearson Airport to temporarily shutdown one of its runways.

There have been no reported injuries, fire officials say.

More than a dozen cars in the yard were destroyed.

The Ministry of the Environment was called in because of potentially dangerous materials at the facility.
