Four people are in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Pickering.
OPP say shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday a Dodge Caravan was travelling westbound on Highway 7 east of Concession 6 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into oncoming traffic, striking a Hyundai Elantra. Subsequently four other vehicles collided.
The driver of the Hyundia, a 30-year-old Whitby man, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the 49-year-old driver of the Caravan suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Two others were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The crash shut down Highway 7 in both directions between Westney Road and Salem Road for the investigation.
