5 things to do this weekend: Luminato, Riverdale Artwalk & Etsy marketplace

Taste of the Beach: The 10-day Luminato arts and culture festival kicks off Friday and the public is invited to check out the festival hub at David Pecaut Square which has been transformed this year into a faux beachfront complete with deck chairs, lifeguard stations — all made of cardboard. There’s a Taste of the Beach event with a BBQ-themed menu created in collaboration with festival artists and local chefs. Saturday, noon-5 p.m. David Pecaut Square. RiversideTO Eats & Beats Streetfest:  Riverside rolls out the welcome mat during its annual street festival this weekend. This east-end neighbourhood is home to 120 boutique retailers, such as Bonjour Brioche, Tabule and Olive & Olives, galleries and the Opera House landmark. You can sample the specialties from 40 participating vendors, as well as listen to musicians and check out the promos.  Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Along Queen Street East from the DVP bridge to Degrassi Street. While you’re in there, you can also catch the juried Riverdale Art Walk fine art show at the Jimmy Simpson Park, featuring established and emerging local artists.

Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer: If you’re not riding the 200-kilometre circuit between Toronto and Niagara Falls, help support the thousands of cyclists who are by being a cheerleader at the three cheer stations, or donate money, which will go towards cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Toronto Etsy Street Team 5th Annual Spring Marketplace: This collective of Toronto-based Etsy sellers will be offering their DIY fashions, jewelry, crafts, artwork and home décor at Church of Saint Stephen-in-the-Fields.The first 25 visitors will receive a swag bag from the artists, crafters and jewellers.
