Toronto District School Board chair Chris Bolton has resigned.
“It is with mixed emotions and much deliberation that I have come to this decision,” Bolton said Friday in a letter to parents, students and staff of Ward 10.
He said he was leaving for personal reasons after serving the board for 12 years and that the decision was effective immediately.
In recent months, the Toronto Star reported that Bolton came under scrutiny over a charitable foundation he founded and run by his partner, which receives board funding.
Bolton told the Star the allegation of conflict of interest was unfounded because neither he nor the charity’s president get paid for the work.
Bolton wasn’t immediately available for comment.
