Main challenge in new portfolio: the medical doctor will be in charge of a $50 billion operation which is considered government’s most challenging portfolio.

 

 

Deb Matthews

Name: Deb Matthews

New portfolio: remains deputy premier and becomes Treasury Board president

Past portfolios: Minister of Health and Long-Term Care

MPP riding: London North Centre

Main challenge in new portfolio: in addition to approving day-to-day government expenses and finding savings, her other files include leading labour negotiations and getting the budget balanced by 2017-18.

 

Liz Sandals

Name: Liz Sandals

New portfolio: remains Minister of Education

Past portfolios: appointed education minister on Feb. 11, 2013. Prior to the appointment she was Parliamentary Assistant to the ministers of Health and Long-Term Care, Transportation, Education, Government Services, and Community Safety and Correctional Services.

MPP riding: Guleph

Main challenge in new portfolio: providing more than $11 billion over the next 10 years for elementary and secondary education infrastructure.

 

 

Name: Brad Duguid

New portfolio: Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure

Past portfolios: appointed minister of Training, Colleges and Universities in February 2013.

MPP riding: Scarborough Centre

Main challenge in new portfolio: Duguid takes over a “reconstituted” economic development ministry.  His job is to ensure Ontario businesses can grow and create well-paying jobs and will also focus on investing in infrastructure.

New portfolio: Minister of Tourism and Minister Responsible for 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Games

Past portfolios: previously Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport

MPP riding: Don Valley East

Main challenge in new portfolio: Coteau will be responsible for the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Games, which has endured a spate of challenges under Michael Chan.
