Police investigating missing family and bodies found in Barrie-area burned-out car

Peel police are investigating whether a father and two children reported missing last week are related to the three bodies that were found early Friday burned beyond recognition in a car north of Barrie.

Samuel Masih, 36, and his two young boys were last seen leaving their Mississauga home to see a movie on Thursday. They were supposed to be back a couple of hours later. But they have been missing now for four days.

“His wife called it in and reported them missing,” Const. Thomas Routtan said. “Apparently, he had called her and said they were going to a movie and they did not show up at home.”

Then early Friday morning, three bodies were found burned beyond recognition in a car near Oro Medonte, north of Barrie. The OPP confirmed the car was a four-door hatchback. Masih drives a Toyota SUV that hasn’t been seen since.

Police are now looking into whether the two cases are connected.

“We don’t ever want to kind of pigeonhole ourselves into one belief, so we leave everything open,” Routtan said, adding police would compare the two vehicles.

The three bodies were brought to Toronto and will autopsied on Tuesday.
