Toronto man, 20, charged after multi-vehicle Vaughan crash

A 20-year-old man, who is being blamed for a multi-vehicle crash in Vaughan, has been released from hospital and charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

On Thursday morning, the man was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Passat on Bathurst Street and reportedly driving at a high speed. His car approached Clark Avenue West and collided with six vehicles.

Eight people, including the alleged impaired driver who had to be airlifted to a Toronto hospital, were injured. The others were taken to hospital with varying degrees of injuries except for one who was treated at the scene and released.

Luke Crawford, of Toronto, will appear in a Newmarket courthouse on July 31.

The police investigation is ongoing.
