EXCLUSIVE: Woodbridge man loses necklace in distraction theft

CityNews reporter Natalie Duddridge says a Woodbridge man had a necklace of sentimental value stolen in a distraction theft by two people asking for directions. Police say this kind of theft is becoming more common around the GTA.

In March, Toronto police issued a warning about this type of theft targeting seniors in Toronto and the GTA, saying there had been more than a dozen incidents in 41 Division – the area bounded by Highway 401, Brimley Road, Victoria Park Avenue and Lake Ontario – alone since November 2013.

This recent theft comes a day after CityNews reported that a Toronto woman had a lifetime of memories snatched away when her late husband’s wedding ring was stolen in a distraction theft.
