Mother & child sent to hospital after Milton fire

A mother and her two-year-old daughter were sent to hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in their Milton apartment.
It happened around 4 a.m. at 80 Barton St. near Bronte and Main streets.
The pair live on the top floor of a house divided into three apartments.
Earlier reports indicated the smoke alarms were not working, but that is not the case.
Neigbours helped alert the mother about the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
