Road & TTC closures in Toronto for events & construction: Sept. 4-8

Below is a list of road and TTC closures in Toronto for events and construction Sept. 4-8, as well as upcoming and ongoing closures due to road work.

Events

TIFF 2014
The Toronto International Film Festival runs from Sept. 4-14, and the following road closures will be in effect:

  • King Street, from Peter Street to University Avenue, will be closed from 10 a.m. on Sept. 4 until 6 a.m. on Sept. 8.
  • King Street will be partially closed in each direction between John and Duncan streets Sept. 8-11, and will reopen on Sept. 12.

Streetcars will be on diversion in the area.

Weekend to End Women’s Cancers
Bremner Boulevard will be closed on Sept. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Taste of the Kingsway
Bloor Street West, from Prince Edward Drive to Montgomery Road, will be closed from Sept. 5 at noon until Sept. 7 at 11:50 p.m.

The Festival of Praise
Rosedale Valley Road, from Park Road to Bayview Road, will be closed in both directions on Sept. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

College Street streetcars and Bay Street buses will be diverted during the closure.

Bloorcourt Arts and Crafts Fair
Bloor Street West, from Montrose Avenue to Dufferin Street, will be closed Sept. 6 at 7 a.m. to Sept. 7 at 1 a.m.

Cabbagetown Festival
Parliament Street, from Gerrard to Wellesley streets, and Carlton Street, from Parliament to Berkley streets, will be closed in both directions on Sept. 6 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Bang and Olufsen Yorkville 5K Charity Fun Run/Walk and the Canadian 5K Road Race Championship
Road closures will be in effect in the area bounded by Davenport Road, University Avenue, Queen’s Park, Avenue Road, Dundas and Bay streets on Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Construction projects

Building construction on Harbour Street
Harbour Street, from York to Bay street, will be reduced to one lane from Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. to Sept. 8 at 5 a.m. for cranes at a building construction site.

Paving work on Queen’s Park Crescent
The northbound lanes of Queen’s Park, from College to Bloor streets, will be closed from Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. to Sept. 5 at 7:30 a.m.

The southbound lanes of Queen’s Park, from Bloor to College streets, will be closed from Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. to Sept. 6 at 7:30 a.m.

Parkside Drive road & sidewalk repairs
Only one lane of Parkside Drive, between Bloor Street to Lake Shore Boulevard, will be open starting in early September for road resurfacing and sidewalk repairs. The project will run for around eight weeks.

Adelaide Street West road, watermain & TTC work
Adelaide Street West, from Simcoe to York streets, will be partially closed starting on Sept. 15 for watermain work, TTC track removal and road reconstruction. The work is expected to be completed by mid-November.

Don Mills Road closure for watermain work
The southbound curb lane of Don Mills Road, from York Mills Road to Lawrence Avenue, will be closed from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 for watermain relining.

An additional southbound lane on Don Mills will be closed from Mallard Avenue to Bond Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day.

TTC work

Weekend subway closure
Subways won’t be running between Bloor-Yonge and Lawrence stations on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) on Sept. 6-7 due to track replacement.

Eglinton, Davisville, St Clair and Rosedale will remain open for fare purchases and connection to surface routes. Summerhill station will be closed.

Shuttle buses will be running, and regular subway service will resume at 6 a.m. on Sept. 8.

Other road closures

Bridge repair on York Mills Road
One eastbound lane and one westbound lane on York Mills Road, from Lesmill to Scarsdale roads, will be closed for bridge repair.

The work started on Aug. 11 and will continue for around 11 weeks.

Watermain projects on Richmond Street
Richmond Street will be reduced to two lanes between Church and York streets. The work started on Aug. 11 and will run through to October.

Utility cut repairs on Yonge Street
One lane on Yonge Street from The Esplanade to Bloor Street will be closed in each direction during non-rush hours. The work began on Aug. 13 and will run until mid-September.
