Unresponsive U.S. plane crashes in ocean north of Jamaica: officials

Jamaican officials say an unresponsive U.S. plane has crashed in the ocean north of the Caribbean island.

The plane took off at 8:45 a.m. ET from Rochester, N.Y., heading to Naples, Fla. The plane was supposed to land at 2:05 p.m. but crossed over Cuba.

The Associated Press reports that a prominent real estate developer, Larry Glazer, and his wife Jane were both on board. The pair were licenced pilots.

According to AP, Larry Glazer ran the development firm Buckingham Properties and owned the plane.

There is no confirmation on how many others were on board.

Contact with the plane was lost at 10 a.m. and it was unresponsive flying over the Atlantic Ocean on Friday afternoon.

NORAD says F-15 fighter jets were escorting the plane, apparently a Socata TBM-700.

The pilots of the fighter jets trailing the plane have reported seeing one of the pilots slumped over and the windows on the plane frosted.

The aircraft is believed to belong to a real estate development company out of Rochester.
