A seven-year-old boy is in hospital after he was struck by a car in the city’s north-west end, police confirm.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Jane Street and Shoreham Drive, south of Steeles Avenue West.

The child was rushed to hospital with serious head and chest injuries.

However, police say the boy’s injuries were not as severe as originally thought.

There has been no word on charges.

The intersection was shut down for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
