Police say young girl grabbed on way to school in Scarborough

Toronto police say a young girl was grabbed on her way to school on Friday morning in Scarborough.

Police were called to the Invergordon Avenue, near Markham Road and Sheppard Avenue East, around 8:50 a.m. and told a nine-year-old girl was grabbed by a strange man.

The girl was walking to school when the man, sitting in a parked blue Mazda vehicle, called out to her.

The girl ignored him and continued to walk along Invergordon when the man allegedly got out of his car and approached her, grabbed her arm and tried to pull her back to his car.

The girl was able to break the man’s hold and run to school.

The suspect is described as brown, 50 to 65 years old, five-foot-nine or five-foot-10, with black hair and a goatee. He was wearing a long-sleeved shirt with a short-sleeved blue T-shirt over top, blue jeans and grey Crocs-style shoes.

The car he was driving is described as a blue, four-door Mazda with rust around the wheels.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-4200 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
