Woman killed while out for a walk in Dupont & Dufferin area

A 65-year-old woman was killed while she was out for her morning walk near Dupont and Dufferin streets on Wednesday morning.

Toronto police say the woman died after she was found with major head trauma in a park behind Wallace Emerson Community Centre.

Shortly after the yellow tape went up at the scene, family members arrived telling police their mother had been missing since she left for her walk.

Every effort was made to save the woman’s life. A lifeguard from the community centre ran outside with a defibrillator and started CPR but she could not be resuscitated.

The lifeguard was in tears as she was taken to the police station to give a statement.

It wasn’t immediately known what caused the victim’s death.

Investigators said that no one witnessed what happened and are hoping security cameras will help provide some answers.
