Ghomeshi showed CBC video of bruised woman: Star reports

New details have emerged about a video believed to have been shown to CBC management that led to the firing of Jian Ghomeshi last month.

According to a report published Wednesday in the Toronto Star, sources told the newspaper the video was on Ghomeshi’s cellphone and showed bruising on a woman he had dated after her rib was apparently cracked.

The woman with the bruises had reportedly dated Ghomeshi in the past 10 years.

The Star also reported that senior network executives were invited to the offices of Denton LLP, a law firm hired by Ghomeshi, to hear the former Q host’s side of the story. That same day Ghomeshi was placed on a leave of absence.

So far three women have gone to police to file formal complaints against Ghomeshi.

The CBC fired Ghomeshi on Oct. 26 after seeing what it later called “graphic evidence” that he had caused physical injury to a woman.

Ghomeshi, who is under criminal investigation, has said he engaged in consensual “rough sex.”

Ghomeshi, who is suing the CBC for $55 million for defamation and breach of confidence, has dropped from sight since his firing, but has said he would meet the allegations against him “directly.”
