Man charged in fatal Richmond Hill hit-and-run

York regional police have laid charges in the hit-and-run death of a 70-year-old man in Richmond Hill on Saturday.
The man was struck around 7 p.m. while crossing the road in the Yonge Street and Bond Crescent area.
He was taken to hospital where he later died.
A black SUV was seen fleeing the scene.
On Sunday afternoon Darryl Sylver, 43, surrendered to police.
Police seized his 2009 black Ford Escape and charged him with failure to remain causing death.
Sylver will appear in court Dec. 18.
Police are hoping to speak with anyone who had contact with him in the time before and after the collision.
